A Case Report of Orthognathic Surgery by Anterior Segmental Osteotomies in Bimaxillary Dentoalveolar Protrusion Patient

Abstract
Bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion can be treated ¨çby orthodontic treatment only with premolar extraction or ¨è by combination treatment which consists of orthodontics and surgery of anterior segmental osteotomy. The combination approach is
advantageous in that the active treatment period can be shortened, the compromises of orthodontic treatment due to too long treatment time can be decreased and the preservation of anchorage is easy.
In this case, 26-year-old-female with bimaxiilary protrusion visited to improve her protrusive profile. On examination, she exhibited proclined incisors with mild mandibular incisor crowding, protruded and hypertonic lips, Cl III molar
relationship
and
deficiency in overjet and overbite. It was planned to treat by combination of orthodontic and surgery Conventional presurgical orthodontics waspreceeded and the surgery was accomplished by anterior segmental osteotomies with four premolars
extraction,
finishing by postsurgical orthodontics. After surgery, the facial profile was improved and the occlusion was stable. At follow-up visit 2 years later, there were no significant changes in the treatment results.
